Vintage Lucite Light for sale

As mentioned, we're working on the house. Jay does most of the heavy lifting but I've been concentrating on selling off some of our extra stuff - even if we still love it.

I've posted this vintage orange light to Craigslist for $100 - if you're interested. I love the retro grapes, it's in great shape and is nice and heavy. Let me know if you've got a good home for this chandelier.

We've always had it hanging in our kitchen over our table but it just doesn't work with the new kitchen configuration. Electrical is updated so no need to fuss with old bulbs.

Some interesting articles

I know that I've been quiet lately. It's high-season for garage sales but we've been busy trying to do some much-needed work on the house so we've really neglected our garage saling.

But I have come across some interesting articles lately that I wanted to share. Enjoy!

Deal of the Day: Holmegaard

Jay collects vintage Holmegaard glass. Holmegaard is a Danish glass company that formed in 1825 and has been making glass ever since. They still make it and you can check them out at http://www.holmegaard.com/.

We only collect smoke-coloured Holmegaard and generally pieces that were signed by Per Lutken - the head designer in the 50's and 60's.

It's pretty easy to find at nice antique stores and online but it's rare to find junking. Yesterday we went to Kitchener and found these gorgeous candlesticks at the Value Village. Finding Holmegaard in the original box is especially rare.

Did you find any deals this weekend?

Content Sales

Yesterday morning we went to North York to check out a content sale advertised on Craigslist. The ad promised some great mid-century finds so we hauled our butts out of bed and were standing in the cold by 7:30 am.

We didn't walk away with the finds that we had hoped but I did get a hand-thrown piece of Canadian pottery, a nice ringware vase and a vintage Peek, Frean and Co tin. $11 total.

If you're one of the people standing in line for a content sale, please don't smoke in line. I'll gladly hold your spot but please go stand somewhere else. We had a pipe smoker in front of us and cigarette smoker behind us.

Three new websites

I know that I've been quiet lately. Most of us hibernate through the Canadian winter and I'm not different. But I'm back now. And here are three new websites that I'm really liking.

Art! Art! Art!

There's an amazing variety of art out there. Granted, "art" can be debated but here are some samples from our house.

Cubist Jesus playing guitar.
A great 1970's silkscreen in the original teak frame.

I bought this one at auction. Only after I bought it did I realize that it's a piece of plywood -signed and mounted. I can understand why some people wouldn't consider this "art".

My sister moved into her forever house in Burlington two and a half years ago. This painting was in her basement. It's a little damaged but stunning.

I'm saving some future posts for my husband's paint by numbers collection. He's aiming to have 1,000 pieces someday. (Not sure where he plans to store them).

More fabric

Clearly I'm a sucker for bold geometrics, anything atomic, bright oranges and pinks, delicate flowers, etc.
